❊ Public Bathroom Inaccessibility in New York—2024

This is a visualization displaying the limited amount of fully accessible public bathrooms in New York City. It was created for a project in my Information Visualization class, in which we choose a topic we are passionate about and find datasets to support a claim. My project highlights the fact that disabled and homeless people in New York City already have very few options for using the bathroom and privacy, and with under 70% of public bathrooms having full ADA compliancy, the options are even more limited. I used InDesign primarily to complete this work.

❊ The Masterplan: Ferrisparken—2024

Ferrisparken is a siteplan redesign for a mostly empty 102,000㎡ size area in the Nørrebro neighborhood of Copenhagen. It was created with the help of two others while studying Urban Design abroad in Denmark. The goal was to make the area more desirable for both residents and tourists; this included a multi-cultural food hall, a ferriswheel, affordable housing, along with large green spaces and other crucial assets. I drew the siteplan by hand and used Adobe Illustrator to highlight different areas within the plan.

❊ The People’s Path—2024

A redesign of an existing courtyard in the Nørrebro neighborhood of Copenhagen. Through ethnographic analysis of the space, feedback was received from the residents about the courtyard and implemented that into many iterations of a plan. The plan emphasized the natural routes taken in the space and included many options for year-round activity and interaction. I hand-drew the plan and collaborated with my group on the slideshow and other various diagrams. Although the plan will never be used for an actual courtyard, it was a fun way to explore urban design for the first time.

❊ Six Word Memoir—2023

A project in my Typography class, in which we design a trading card that on one side depicts our six-word memoir: a short story that reflects an aspect or aspects of our life. The phrase I chose reflects my incessant desire to change and grow as a person, but the anxiety of wondering if I am actually making any progress. The typographic direction I chose was inspired by a collection of 1970s and 80s punk zines and show posters at the Letterform Archive in San Francisco. I primarily used Adobe Photoshop and magazines found in my apartment.

A Separate Peace Book Cover
Redesign—2023

Another typography project was to redesign an existing book cover, so I chose "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles. I was inspired by the vintage academia aesthetic of leather book covers with gold lettering. One motif throughout the novel is a specific tree around which many of the driving events occur, so I strived to incorporate this as much as I could. I used Adobe Illustrator and InDesign during this project.

❊ Spread on Religious
Pamphlets—2023

The purpose of this project was to focus on a niche category of type and then design and write a magazine-style spread of 8-12 pages. My focus was on religious pamphlets that were passed out to me around San Francisco. I observed common threads throughout each pamphlet I collected and highlighted those in the article. The project was focused more on the display of text and the practice of creating a spread and not on the quality of the article. For this project, I used Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

❊ Club Penguin-Inspired
Net Art—2023

For my course on digital media design, we were assigned to make a piece of net art as a website. I designed this site based on my experience playing Club Penguin as a kid, not having a membership. I created every asset in Adobe Illustrator. All clickable assets on this site take you to various error messages, depicting the limits in the game if you didn’t have a membership. The gallery of images includes screencaps of the website that display its operation. I used HTML and CSS to code it from scratch.

❊ The Clarity Project—2022

This project was coding-heavy with an emphasis on brand design. Each student was to create a hypothetical benefit for a cause close to us. We were then to develop and curate the program, and then design and build the corresponding website and merchandise. I chose to focus on the issue of neurodivergent women and girls receiving less attention and fewer diagnoses as compared to neurodivergent boys and men.

Featured in the photo gallery are screencaps of the merchandise I designed.

❊ Postcards of Portland,
Oregon—2022

These are three postcards designed for Portland, Oregon, where I lived for six years. I used various photos, most of which I took with a digital camera, to stitch together moments and memories of my experiences in Portland. I incorporated the quirkiness of the city, since that is such a large aspect of my love for Portland. Adobe Photoshop was the primary tool I used for this assignment.

❊ Triptych—2022

A group of three images I photographed while experimenting with shutter speed and aperture, stitched together to look as if they are one large moving image or scene. I decided to theme my project around light and movement. I used the nighttime to my advantage to highlight the headlights of cars and bright street signs. I used Adobe Photoshop to put the photos together.

❊ Inspirational Poster—2022

This assignment was to create an inspirational poster, which I designed based off of lyrics from the song "The Path" by Lorde. We also had to create an animated gif based on the poster and the quote we chose. Although the concept of an inspirational poster is a bit corny to me, it was a good exercise in learning how to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create both complete imagery and moving aspects of images.

❊ Cape Cod Icons—2022

Shown here are three icons that represent Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The assignment was to depict a location we loved through icons, so I chose to focus on the beaches of Cape Cod. The icons are shown at different scales to exhibit versatility. Each icon is stylized in the same manner in a way that captures the behavior of wind and water. I used Adobe Illustrator to create each icon.
